I have been in the business of painting for over 30 yrs. I have my painting papers for many yrs. now. My question is this. Why is it so necessary to have exams for painting certificates . I can tell a experience painter after a few questions and a few minutes on a job site. Today to get your papers you need to know primary colors ,secondary colors, wall papers skills, paint mixing,etc.. etc...
All the while you go to paint stores and in a minutes or so a computer mixes and chooses the colors and off you go. I think it is a money thing. I am talking about Ontario..... Quebec is a real joke even worst than Ontario but we will discuss that in another post. Can anyone give me a explanation on this or is it too complicated. thanks you Maurice.

Well Maurice, I havent been in the industry long as you, but I have 22 years inthe industry, its funny you mentioned papers or certifications for painting qualifications, I went as watching a supposed painter pick up a brush and afterwards sent him home, far as talking to a potential painter, the game changed alot and talk is valuable, in other words, I let them on the job, to test out their potentials, them moment the pick up a brush, I would know if your a painter or not, and trust me I havent been fooled by this technique as of yet. I dont have any qualifications or certifications, I came up the ranks, oh, it wasnt easy or sweet, but I know how to paint, brush roll or spray, and if I should need any certifications, qualifications, admenations, rescindnations, or redo-alations, they should've told me at day 2, when I started in 1987, I would have gotten my certification and qualifications...sorry but I dont get it either, the largest job I've completed was 200.000sf in 30 days with 22 painters, and getting rid of the first 50 so-called painters, the very first day on the job....funny, I didnt check to see if they had a certificate, but they lifted up a brush in my face, that was enough.
